Need help and don’t know where to turn? Give them a call! Free resource to everyone!

We had a quarterly meeting for all caregivers tonight.  It’s usually a chance to catch up a bit, have a little continuing education and recognize the achievements of fellow caregivers.  Tonight they brought in a community resource that I’d never really heard about before and I immediately knew I wanted to share this with others.

There is a nation-wide community resource that will help you find assistance that you need.  Each local chapter has a database of regional programs that aid people in need.  They make every effort to include information regarding eligibility requirements and other requirements for aid.

From any phone you can dial 211 and receive information about resources available in your community for:

  • food or nutrition assistance
  • health care
  • housing assistance
  • utilities assistance
  • job search
  • veteran services
  • legal aid
  • domestic violence help
  • mental health care
  • addiction counseling
  • disaster assistance
  • elder care

The phones are staffed in general weekdays during business hours, but you can go online and research the database for your local 211 resource center 24/7.  The nationwide website that will direct you to your local center is www.211.org .

Please share this information on, I know I usually focus on elder care and caregiving but this is a good resource for caregivers, elders and anyone else in the community.
